Dear Strong Girls,
I am struggling to forgive someone. Do I need to forgive someone who hurt me?
Laura from Los Angles
Forgiveness is a hard thing to do for most of us. It just does not seem right to forgive someone if they have hurt us. However, God not only requires us to forgive, but He commands us to forgive. God forgives all of us every day for our sins. In return, God expects us to do the same. God went to great measures to forgive our sins. He sacrificed His only son on the cross so our sins could be forgiven and forgotten. His forgiveness allows us to live in eternity with Him, but we must do the same. That is why it is so important for you to forgive others and yourself.,
Remember, Laura forgiving someone may take time and actually may feel impossible to do. Pray about it. If you still have a hard time forgiving, ask your pastor, a close friend, or even seek professional counseling for help. Once you can forgive, God smiles down and grants you blessings of peace. Forgiveness allows you to live happier and healthier.
Believe it or not, forgiveness lifts a heavy burden from our hearts. Strong Girls Pray wrote an article in the Bible Studies category titled “Forgive and Live.” This is an excellent article about forgiveness that may help you when you ask “how” and “why” I should forgive. There is a prayer in the Gospels that is repeated in Matthew 6:9-13 and again in Luke 11:2-4. It is The Lords Prayer. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’”
Good Luck, Laura! Believe in God and Believe in yourself!
