Is it Okay to Lie? What The Bible Has to Say About Lying

Is it okay to lie? Here is what the Bible has to say about lying. Telling the truth is not always easy to do. We all get in a situation where it is hard, to tell the truth for some reason or another. Usually, the cause of lying is out of fear. Fear is the biggest liar. We fear of hurting ourselves or someone else so we may not tell the truth. Sometimes we lie to protect ourselves from good or bad fearing we have to defend ourselves. It becomes common that you have to lie to get out of another lie.
Lying is a sin and is part of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:16). Lying is the Devil’s works, and that is why it never works out to lie about something to fix everything. As much as we want to justify a “small” lie, it is no different in God’s eyes. A lie is a lie. Speaking falsehood with yourself or someone else is not loving yourself, your neighbor, brother, or sister (Ephesians 4:25). Telling the truth can be difficult but is the only path to travel following God. If you catch yourself in a lie, ask for forgiveness, and God will make your crooked road straight.
