The Pandemic of 2020 Has Left Some People Lonely

This year our lives have been consumed with the pandemic of 2020. It is an unprecedented, odd, scary, weird, and even isolated time. The pandemic has caused many health issues too including loneliness. Did you know loneliness can lead to death? Jesus was asked by a lawyer one day, which commandments were the greatest?

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40).

As Christians, our neighbors encompass everyone. This includes the people living next door and the lady that works with you a few desks down at the office. Even the gentleman sitting on a park bench holding his cane with his newspaper that you don’t even know are all your neighbors in Christ.

God put on my heart this morning to become proactive in helping each other with kindness and compassion. First, we should look at our own family. Is there someone you have not heard from in a long time? If so, maybe you should call or text and tell them you were thinking of them today. It may make a huge difference in that their life.

Is there someone at the office that does not seem themselves? Maybe that person seems sad or down. Bring doughnuts and coffee and talk for a few minutes before getting busy. Bringing good cheer is contagious.

What about the man sitting on the park bench alone with his cane and newspaper.? Say Hello! Ask him how his day is going. God will guide you.

Human interfacing means a lot to people because it shows you care for them. It shows you acknowledged them, and they count too. Volunteer at a local nursing home, or if you are a talkative person, work a few hours on the weekend at a local coffee shop or where your bubbly personality can make a difference. Loving your neighbor will also allow you to love yourself too!

Blessings to All!
